Ed Wiles, Director of City Lights
Ed Wiles is a British writer and director who started his career by working in the camera and production departments on major film and television projects, such as the Tim Burton blockbuster SLEEPY HOLLOW and the BAFTA-winning WARRIORS. Having always been interested in writing, he returned to academia to study for an MA in Screenwriting at the Northern Film School in Leeds, England, before finding representation and gaining several feature film commissions. Frustrated by seeing scripts fail to reach production, he began to pursue directing and self-produced his first two short films before Film London supported his third short film, the award-winning romantic comedy, CITY LIGHTS, which premiered at the LA Shorts Fest in 2016 and played at many other major festivals.
The success of CITY LIGHTS led to a commission from UK broadcaster ITV to write/direct the grime mockumentary, DROPPERZ. At the same time, he has been developing scripts of varying genres and formats, and was recognised with a prestigious BAFTA Rocliffe showcase in 2015.
Having developed projects with Sky Drama and Amber Ent, he is currently attached to direct a comedy feature film, which has been invited to Film London’s Production Finance Market in late 2018.
