Logline
At martial arts class, Ethel tells her best friend, Vivian, about the bingo night heist plan.
Director's Note
“Karate” contains two scenes from BINGO NIGHT. The second scene, a conversation between Ethel and Vivian in the locker room, is straightforward dialog. The first scene, in which the ladies whisper to each other during their martial arts class, is more challenging. Editors must make sure that Ken, the overly-intense instructor, comes off as eccentric without being too over-the-top. Editors also have to keep an eye on continuity, especially in terms of Ken’s blocking.
