Media Composer | First & Lynda.com
The editing community has been buzzing with the release of Media Composer | First, a free and nearly fully featured version of Avid Technology's industry leading editing software, Media Composer.
What is less well known is that Lynda.com has updated their Media Composer essential training video series to follow along very closely with the official Avid Learning Partner (ALP) classes.
Avid & Lynda.com Partnership
In the past, the official ALP classes cost thousands of dollars to take (I know because I've taken them all), but now a healthy portion of the information those classes teach, along with the class structure itself, is available to the masses.
There are some limitations however. The Lynda courses do not allow you to become a certified Media Composer operator. For that you'll still need to take the classes in person (find an Avid Learning Partner).
Through a partnership with EditStock, Lynda's members can download the same footage offered to ALP classes to follow along with the Lynda tutorial videos.
Where to Find Lynda Training Free
- More than half of all University faculty and students in the USA have access to Lynda.com training.
- Many local libraries subscribe to Lynda.
- Try Lynda at home for a 30 day free trail.
It's Time To Learn Media Composer
If you've been wanting to learn Media Composer there has never been a better time. With free software from Avid, free training from Lynda, and free footage from EditStock there is no reason not to give Media Composer a shot.
