Eva Ye, Contributor of The Ballerina, The Shoemaker, and His Apprentice

Eva Ye was born and bred in Hangzhou, a scenic town in Southeastern China. She played piano and danced, specifically classical ballet, for the entirety of her childhood and teenage years. She moved to the US in 2007, when she studied at University of Maryland. Upon receiving her B.S. of Finance and Mathematics, she relocated to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue her dream as a filmmaker at University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

Upon receiving the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant and Carole & Larry Auerbach and Family Finishing Fund, Eva wrote and directed her thesis short film The Ballerina, Her Shoemaker and His Apprentice, which has received nominations at the Oscar-Qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival and LA Shorts Fest, Maryland International Film Festival, and Ouchy Film Festival in Switzerland, garnering Best Young Director at SHORT to the Point in Romania, The Grand Jury Award and Best College Film at The Next Generation Filmmaker Film Festival.

Eva was one of the twenty directors chosen to participate in Ryan Murphy Television's inaugural Half Initiative program, during which she shadowed the director Maggie Kiley on an episode of Scream Queens.

In 2017, Eva also wrote and directed another short film "Headshot", starring the GLEE star Lauren Potter. The short film was sponsored by Alibaba Pictures and Pasadena Community Foundation and received Bronze prize at its Big Heart Small Film festival.
